Clearly, one of the most important issues in America today is the education of our children. A good education gives a child a solid base in life from which to build future successes. In Utah, we are lucky to have some of the best students, parents, teachers and administrators in the country.

Decisions about educating our children should be made those parents, local school boards and educators -- not bureaucrats in Washington, DC. The Department of Education, while well intentioned, simply does not and cannot fulfill its mission of "providing educational excellence for all Americans." On the other hand, by eliminating the federal education bureaucracy, we could better allocate federal resources for local schools to use in ways that will in fact contribute to educational excellence.

Eliminating the burden of the Federal Bureaucracy from education is not a new idea. It has been proposed and talked about in Congress for years – with no success. The reason is simple: Despite their frustrations, parents, educators and taxpayers have not been able to mount the kind of organized, concerted grassroots effort that will be necessary to dislodge the national education lobby and create a political environment in which fundamental change – such as getting rid of the Department of Education – can be achieved.

EndFedEd.com is a first step toward mounting such an effort. If you want to be a part of accomplishing fundamental change and removing the weight of the bureaucracy from our schools, teachers and kids, sign up today to receive valuable information about education reform, learn what you can do to help achieve that reform, and become part of a network of concerned folks who, working in concert, CAN MAKE THINGS HAPPEN to return control of education back to where it belongs.
